Hong Kong's outstanding 33-year-old female coach, Chan Yuen-ting, is expected to be the ideal candidate for women's soccer head coach in the eyes of the Football Association.
In fact, Chan Yuen Ting was able to "win" the position thanks to fierce competition. Before that, the most popular candidate was Zhao Junzhe. Rumor has it that there is a "mysterious force" to help, the competition has not yet opened, the dawn of victory has appeared. The withdrawal of Shanghai women's soccer coach Shui Qingxia was also speculated to be related to this. However, the result may be surprising, Zhao Junzhe may not be able to get what he wants, and the FA may award the women's soccer team to Chen Wanting.
From a professional point of view, this result makes sense. Though young, Chan Yuen-ting has a remarkable resume: a woman who has led a group of men to win two consecutive Hong Kong League titles; she was the head coach of the national U16 women's soccer team in 2019, and finished third in that year's Asian tournament, which was the best result for China's U16 women's soccer team in 10 years.
Such a brilliant resume for both men's and women's soccer. Notably, she is also an undergraduate graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Checking the 2021-2022 QS World University Rankings, The Chinese University of Hong Kong is ranked 39th. The addition of Chan Yuen Ting certainly adds to the average educational qualifications of national soccer coaches.
Zhao Junzhe's career as a player has been exciting, but his performance as a coach is unknown. Because after retirement, his career has been around the team line, or as a club management, or in the Football Association functions, even in the first line, but also temporary guest, and thus lack of convincing coaching experience and results. The performance of the two men at the bidding meeting was also reportedly high and low.
The most suitable person in the most suitable position, this is the basic principle of employment. Just like the hotel to recruit the rooms department manager, but recommended a competent catering boss, despite the status is not low, but after all, the main business is different.
Therefore, in the final selection of the women's football manager, the performance of the Football Association deserves extra points. At least there is no result of "internal determination must be selected, the competition is only a form".
The extra points gained from this bid for the FA do not stem entirely from soccer as a career.
It is believed that if Chen Wanting can successfully take up the post, for the level of play of our women's soccer team (is the Tokyo Olympics up to the normal level?) and improvement, will leave a lot of room for reverie. After all, Ms. Chen grew up living and studying in an environment very different from that of the mainland, and her way of thinking as well as her teaching philosophy and coaching methods are also very different from those of traditional local coaches, which was already evident when she coached the U16s.
I look forward to Ms. Chen Wanting's success in being elected as the head coach of our women's football team, and kudos to the Football Association.
