After graduating from university, Chan Yuen-ting seized the opportunity to join the Hong Kong Premier League team, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus, as a data analyst while attending coaching training courses, and returned to the Chinese University of Hong Kong to further her studies and obtain a Master's Degree in Sports Medicine and Health Sciences.
In 2015, Chan Yuen Ting had a career breakthrough, first becoming an assistant coach of Hong Kong Premier League powerhouse Orient before being promoted to head coach at the end of the year. Becoming the first female coach in Asia to coach a men's top flight team was a miracle in itself.
Faced with the immense pressure of becoming a female coach, Chen Wanting firmly chose the challenge. She said that despite not having much capital to lose, her dream of becoming a head coach never wavered, "So I told myself that I'd better give it a try! Because there's nothing you can't lose."
