The incident occurred in the late afternoon U.S. local time on Saturday, when a police officer on patrol noticed a vehicle driven by Wambach violating a traffic signal and signaled for a stop. During the police check, they found signs that Wambach had been drinking alcohol. A Portland Police spokesperson revealed that Wambach was then taken to the nearest police station to undergo a series of BAC tests, which showed that she did not meet legal driving standards.
