Recently, Tang Jiali, who has traveled to Tottenham Hotspur Women's Football Club in the English Premier League, has attracted a lot of attention. In the third round of the Premier League women's soccer match between Tottenham Hotspur and Reading, she came on as a substitute for only two minutes and contributed a key assist for the team. Looking back at Tang's debut, she made her debut in a friendly match between Tottenham Hotspur and Scottish Premier League side Celtic, scoring a goal to help the team win 6-1, while her teammate Shen Mengyu also provided an assist in the same match. Clearly, the Chinese women's soccer players have had remarkable success on their overseas trips. So why is it that Chinese women's soccer players are more likely to become the mainstay of their teams than their male counterparts on their overseas trips? What makes their overseas stay more successful?
As a matter of fact, the Chinese women's soccer team still maintains the strength of the first-class team in Asia. Compared with European soccer powerhouses, the gap between us is minimal. There are two main reasons for the poor performance of the Chinese women's soccer team in this year's Women's Olympic Games: the first is not the strongest lineup in the competition, and the second is the luck factor in the game.
Any strong soccer team can lose and have bad luck, we can not completely deny the progress of the Chinese women's soccer team just because they failed to achieve the desired results in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. As a matter of fact, in this year's National Games, we used the Olympic players as the base and competed with teams from various provinces in China, and we found that there are still many promising soccer stars in China. For example, Zhang Linyan, Ma Xiaoxu, Gu Yasha and other players have not been selected for the Olympic squad, while foreign players Shen Mengyu and Tang Jiali also did not travel with the team.
The Chinese women's soccer team was the first to break through against Australia on the road in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, and eventually drew 1-1 with the Australian women's soccer team, which is ranked seventh in the world. Even though we played away from home and were quarantined due to the epidemic, we still drew with our opponents despite the lack of training with the ball, which fully proved our strength.
In the match against South Korea for the Olympic ticket, the Chinese women's soccer team successfully won the ticket to the Olympic Games by defeating their opponents with a record of 4-3 in two rounds. We can't completely deny the strength of the women's soccer team just because of the poor performance in the main round of the Olympics. In fact, we are the top team in China and Asia.
It's not an exaggeration to say that the women's soccer squad we put together for the Olympics was not the strongest. This is because there are too many good women's soccer players in the country. We can see this from the National Games. Therefore, when Tang Jiali and Shen Mengyu showed excellent athleticism in their stay in the foreign countries, they were warmly pursued by domestic fans. The overall strength of the Chinese men's soccer team has not reached the heights of the Chinese women's soccer team in Asia, so it is not easy for the men's soccer players to gain a firm foothold in the team in terms of staying abroad.
The overall strength of the Chinese women's soccer team remains strong. In the 04 to 05 age group, they are the first batch of players after the Football Association started to vigorously develop school soccer. In terms of soccer development, men's and women's soccer are developed side by side. In terms of international women's soccer development, although it started later than men's soccer, our youth training system construction has kept up, which makes the overall strength and basic skills of Chinese women's soccer players more solid.
It is not even an exaggeration to say that if we can select the best players in the country to form a team, we are fully capable of competing with top international teams and the difference is not that big. If the players can get good training, it is entirely possible for us to reach the international top level.
We also hope that Shen Mengyu's and Tang Jiali's stay will inspire more women's soccer girls to go to Europe. We also look forward to the progress of the Chinese women's soccer team getting better and better.
Why do you think it is easier for Chinese women's soccer players to stay abroad successfully than men's soccer players? Where do you think China's women's soccer team would rank internationally if they had the strongest squad? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
