On August 31st, the ball world is in flux. According to the As newspaper, La Liga giants Barcelona are plotting to boost their attacking firepower by targeting striker Bakambu of Chinese Super League powerhouse Beijing Guoan. The Congolese player is currently playing for Guoan and his contract will expire in December next year, when his transfer fee will be quite attractive.
Bakambu has a strong La Liga connection, having spent three seasons with Villarreal and contributed 47 goals in 105 appearances with the Yellow Submarine between 2015 and 2018. His signing is expected to satisfy Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman's desire for strength in the center. In 87 games with the national side, he scored 58 goals, good for a 0.67 goals-against average.
