Cao Rui, born on October 2, 1981, is a native of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. This outstanding player from Jiangsu Province received professional training at Nanjing Gulou No. 1 Middle School since his childhood, and with his outstanding performance, he climbed all the way up to the Jiangsu Provincial Team and became a stalwart of the team.
In 2000, Cao Rui joined Jiangsu Suntian and started his professional career. On March 30 of the same year, he made his professional debut as a front-rower against Qingdao Hailifeng in the First B League. In the next 12 years of his career, Cao Rui made 147 appearances for Jiangsu and contributed 3 goals.
