Nantong Zhiyun head coach incident review
On the evening of the 18th, Nantong Zhiyun Football Club issued a notice announcing that it had decided to suspend head coach Xie Hui from his position as head coach due to the poor social impact caused by his drunken remarks at a private party. Afterwards, Xie Hui made a public post on social media, apologizing to the four clubs he mentioned, including Chengdu Rongcheng, Shanghai Shenhua, Shanghai Harbour and his own Nantong Zhiyun.
A video of Xie Hui drinking and laughing with friends and talking at the table was uploaded to the Internet and quickly spread. In the video, Xie boasts about his coaching achievements and mentions the operation of several clubs.
Regardless of whether the figures mentioned by Xie Hui are accurate or not, these are the contents of drunken bragging and gossiping at a private party. Unexpectedly, on such occasions there were people who secretly filmed and transmitted the video to the Internet. The incident quickly fermented, and public opinion almost one-sidedly blamed the person who secretly filmed the video for Xie Hui's carelessness in making friends. And what Xie Hui himself mentioned did not attract much attention.
Nonetheless, Xie Hui's comments, as the current head coach of a Chinese League One team, do appear to be disparaging to other clubs. More importantly, after being secretly filmed and disseminated, these comments became his public rhetoric. As a result, Nantong Zhiyun Football Club also reacted quickly by announcing the suspension of Xie Hui's head coaching duties. Xie Hui himself then apologized to the four clubs and said that the photographer had ill intentions and had seriously damaged his reputation, and that he would reserve the right to take legal action.
Nantong Zhiyun, who lacked a head coach, was eliminated from the preliminary round of the AFC Cup Central League on August 19 with a 0:6 loss to Heilongjiang Bingcheng.
Currently, the second phase of the Central League has been successfully completed. Nantong Zhiyun is in the seventh place with 31 points, still 6 points away from the fourth place Wuhan Sanzhen, and still have a chance to impact the play-offs.
