On July 27th in Beijing, the 9th round of the 2021 Chinese Super League (CSL) season began with a matchup between Henan Songshan Longmen and Cangzhou Lions. Neither side was able to score in the first half, before Suzu broke the deadlock with a header in the second half, and then Dorado equalized through a penalty kick. Shortly after, Ke Zhao created a penalty kick in the penalty area and scored with his own long-distance shot, and finally Henan Songshan Longmen completed the reversal with a 2-1 victory over Cangzhou Lions.
After the first 8 rounds of the season, Henan Songshan Longmen ranked fifth in Guangzhou with 8 points with 1 win, 5 draws and 2 losses. The team drew 0-0 with Shenzhen in the last round. Cangzhou Lions, on the other hand, ranked seventh in Guangzhou with a record of 1 win, 3 draws and 4 losses, and they beat Qingdao 2-0 in the last round. Both teams failed to score in their first meeting of the season, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
