Recently, there has been a sudden change in the Gusau Region. The highly anticipated 8th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) was originally scheduled to start on July 25th, but was postponed to August 15th due to the hurricane "Fireworks". The natural disaster not only posed a challenge to the 8 teams in the Gusau Region in terms of daily training, but also led to the emergency closure of all the designated training grounds, forcing the teams to train in an indoor gym and on a rare piece of artificial grass.
The originally cold artificial grass field is now a focal point for teams to compete for, as there are eight teams in the Gusau Region, each of which can only share a precious hour of training time.
The persistent heavy rains have also had a serious impact on the venue. In view of the worrying condition of the grass at the Kunshan Sports Center, the matches between Shenhua and Wuhan, and Hebei against Dalian, originally scheduled for July 28, were moved to the Jiangyin Sports Center in order to protect the venue. The match between Tianjin Jinmen Tiger and Changchun Yatai, which was originally scheduled to be played at the Jiangyin Sports Center, was adjusted to the Kunshan Sports Center.
Hurricane Fireworks was just one of the challenges faced by the Gusau race. At the same time, the epidemic in Nanjing has also had a certain impact on the race. According to the Nanjing Municipal Health Commission on July 26, Nanjing has reported a total of 75 local confirmed cases, 13 asymptomatic infections. As Nanjing and Gusu are adjacent to each other, there are frequent exchanges between the two places. In order to prevent and control the epidemic, the Gusu matches on July 28, July 31 and August 3 were closed to fans, including the much-anticipated Shanghai derby match between Shenhua and Harbour. It is worth noting that 17,512 spectators flocked to the Gusu Sports Center stadium for the first round of derbies between the two teams this season, setting a record attendance for the region.
