Euro 2024 draw revealed: group of death draws heat as competition heats up
The Euro 2024 group stage draw ceremony came to an end, and several groups have been labeled as "groups of death". group B, Spain, Italy and Croatia share the same points, making the competition in this group extremely fierce. The meeting between France and the Netherlands also makes the competition in Group D full of gunpowder flavor. England, Germany, Belgium and other teams are relatively easy to draw the signatures.
A total of 24 teams competed in this year's Europa League, divided into six groups. In addition to hosts Germany advancing directly, 20 teams have managed to advance through the European qualifying rounds. The remaining three play-off places will be revealed in March next year.
In the draw for the slot, six teams, including Germany, Spain, England, France, Belgium and Portugal, were assigned to the first slot as seeded teams. But in the third and fourth gear, there are a lot of strong teams, such as the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy and so on. Switzerland and Serbia and other World Cup regulars are also among the fourth gear, this year's European Cup, "the group of death" appears to be a foregone conclusion.
Among the many groups, Group B, where Spain is located, is generally regarded as the most competitive "group of death". The Matildas will be grouped with Croatia and Italy, two teams with strong opponents, and the other team in Group B is Albania.
France is also in Group D, which is also considered a potential "Group of Death", and will be drawn with the Netherlands, while Austria is in second place. France will be grouped with the Netherlands, while Austria is the second-ranked team, and the final spot in Group D will be decided by the winner of the play-off Group A, in which Poland, led by Ivan Levin, is currently participating.
The other four seeds had a relatively good draw compared to Spain and France. Germany were grouped with Switzerland, England met Denmark and Serbia, while Belgium and Portugal were grouped with the weaker teams in their respective groups.
Below are the specifics of each subgroup:
Group A: Germany, Hungary, Scotland, Switzerland
Group B: Spain, Albania, Croatia, Italy
Group C: England, Denmark, Slovenia, Serbia
Group D: France, Austria, Netherlands, winner of Group A of the play-offs
Group E: Belgium, Romania, Slovakia, winner of Group B of the play-offs
Group F: Portugal, Turkey, Czech Republic, winner of play-off Group C
Of the six groups, Groups A, B and D are considered the "Groups of Death" because they contain a number of strong teams and the competition is fierce. The other groups are relatively balanced.
The groupings for this Europa League are exciting and we are sure that the competition will be a close one. Good luck to all the participating teams!
