Diego Fran's family name shines in the history of Uruguayan soccer. His father, Pablo Fran, was a member of the Uruguayan national team for the 1966 and 1974 World Cups, playing for São Paulo and Penarol, while his maternal grandfather, Juan Carlos Collazo, was a standout midfielder for Athletic Independiente in the 1930s.
