This season, Caldecott was transferred from Chongqing to Shenzhen, after the first five rounds of
China Super League (soccer league)
After the tournament, has delivered 3 goals and 2 assists, the performance can be described as eye-catching, coupled with the previous rumors that he is expected to join the nationality of our country, it is a lot of attention.
Q: How did you get into soccer? Was there a certain soccer star who influenced you?
Caldecott: It's a well-known fact that Brazilians have a passion for soccer, and it's practically in their blood. When I was young, my father used to play soccer and would bring me to participate in it, and since then, I have had a strong relationship with soccer.
Although my father wasn't a professional player, he always said he was better than me, and even though we never played on the same field, when he said that, I accepted it. He was a center back and I was a striker, and if he was my opponent, he would have tried to overpower me, perhaps through physical confrontation or technical entanglement, haha.
Q: How did you launch your professional soccer career?
CALDECKER: In Brazil, there are many youth leagues and I participated in some training and matches, and at the age of 10-11, I joined the youth team of FC Vasco da Gama. Since then, I've been on the road to professional soccer, from youth to professional.
Q: How did you decide to join Shenzhen from Chongqing? What was this decision-making process like?
Caldecott: I can't exactly describe how long it took to make this decision, but it was at least more than a month. First of all, I had an in-depth discussion with my family and together we analyzed the Shenzhen team's plans and future direction, which was crucial to my decision.
Mr. Ding gave me a detailed introduction to the planning of the Shenzhen team, including the player configuration, which made me very interested. In addition, Cruyff Jr. was my coach and we worked together, and that experience was very close to my heart. I think this may be an opportunity to create new history. Although it took a few weeks to complete the transfer process, the decision was already in my mind.
Q: What did you know about the Shenzhen team before joining them?
Caldecott: Before I joined the Shenzhen team, I already knew some of the players, both as opponents and teammates, and we had common game experiences. There are also some well-known players in the team, and we are all very familiar with them. As for the coaching team, we are familiar with each other because we have worked together.
For me, this is the first step to get to know this team. Before I joined, I also learned about Shenzhen's future plans, which is also a crucial step for my career.
Q: After joining the Shenzhen team, what is your new understanding of the team?
Caldecott: It's normal to have new acquaintances. At the teammate level, I was teammates with Won Min-sung, while the other teammates I knew more or less, but had not played together, which was a big change for me. When you join a new team, there are always many new challenges and adaptation processes. Apart from me, the Shenzhen team has also introduced new foreign aiders, which is also a process of adaptation for me. This is what all players have to go through when they enter a new environment.
Q: What are some of your other hobbies outside of competition and training?
Caldecott: I love fishing, whether it's sea fishing or river fishing, I enjoy it. Fishing is a pleasure in itself and I enjoy it very much. In Brazil, I once caught a big fish of nearly 25 kilograms. When I was in Chongqing, I also fished, but I didn't catch too big a fish. In Shenzhen, I haven't had much time to explore good places for fishing, but I have heard that there are many good places for fishing in Shenzhen. I also like to gather with my family, dine out, go shopping, or take a walk in the park.
Q: Brazil is a soccer kingdom that has produced many soccer stars, which one do you admire the most?
CALDECKER: As we all know, the history of Brazilian soccer has produced many superstars, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and so on.
And nowadays, I appreciate more
Neymar
We've known each other for a long time and we've worked together before when we were at Santos FC. I think he's the best player in the world and his skills are absolutely world class. He's not only a great team player, but he also uses his strengths to the fullest. I think what I admire the most is
Neymar
Q: What Chinese have you learned over the years playing soccer in China? Can you say a few words briefly?
Caldecott: I can speak some numbers and soccer terms. In fact, I wasted a lot of time learning Chinese because I initially came to China on a short-term contract and didn't think about learning Chinese at that time. Then after I renewed my contract, I didn't have much free time and missed the opportunity to learn Chinese. Now, I really want to go and learn the language seriously, and I want to communicate better with everyone.
Q: Are there any Chinese stars you know or like, such as movie stars or singers?
Caldecott: In this regard, I am really a shortcoming and don't know much about it. Because of the language, I don't understand the songs they sing, and I don't understand the words in their movies. For me, I am more concerned about soccer, and my teammates like Gao Lin and Yong Pei have given me a lot of joy and help. I think these friends are the most famous people I know.
Q: What Chinese dishes do you like? Have you tried Cantonese food since coming to Shenzhen?
Caldecott: I've eaten hot pot before in Chongqing, but I haven't tried much of the local cuisine in Guangdong, because I was short on time and didn't make a point of seeking out Cantonese food. Perhaps my biggest impression of Chinese food is still from the previous years. I'd be happy to try it if someone treats me.
Q: A lot of fans have said that you are strong-willed and a fighter, how do you feel about their comments?
CALDECKER: I think they are very right, I am a player who likes to win very much, likes the feeling of winning very much and I respect my teammates very much. We respect each other and when we win together, it's a great feeling.
Q: Since the start of the season, Shenzhen fans have continuously traveled to Guangzhou to cheer for the team, what is it like to hear the cheering of Shenzhen fans during a game? Is there anything you want to say to them?
Caldecott: I'm very grateful to our fans, who come out to support us at every tournament. I'm very aware of how important the fans are to us, they can galvanize our emotions and make us more positive and more ferocious in every game. I think the fans are an integral part of our team and are essential to the way the game of soccer is played and to the soccer environment.
I very much want to win every game and give the victory as a gift back to our fans for their continuous support and help. I expect that we will always fight together, even though they are not players on our team, we fight together and work together to beat our opponents. I am very grateful for the support of our fans and I will work with my teammates to make sure that we try our best to play every game and give back to our fans whatever we can.
Q: With the season just starting soon, what are your expectations for the team's results and your own performance?
Caldecott: I'm a player who gives his all on the pitch, and I'm sure my teammates do too. As soon as we step on the pitch, we work hard for our goals. Our goal and the team's goal is to compete for first place, and as long as we play soccer, it's all about winning, about winning constantly. Winning first place is our goal, and I know it's hard because
China Super League (soccer league)
There are a lot of good teams and players out there who will stop us from pursuing this goal. But that's the way soccer is, and we'll give it our best shot to get the best result possible.
Therefore, if we are lucky enough to win the first place and achieve this goal with my teammates, I will be really happy because it is the result of our hard work for the whole year. However, no matter what, I will do my best to help the team to achieve a higher ranking.
