On June 1, the Guangzhou Municipal Government revealed at a press conference on the prevention and control of the epidemic that within 24 hours on May 31, there were 10 new confirmed cases in Guangzhou, of which one was converted from an asymptomatic infected person to a confirmed case, and there were two other cases of asymptomatic infected persons. As of 24:00 on May 31, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Guangzhou reached 34, with 8 asymptomatic infections, making the city one of the most serious regions in China.
However, the Liwan District in the western part of Guangzhou city is currently more concentrated with cases farther away from the hotels and race venues in the Guangzhou Region. Among the four major competition venues in Guangzhou, Tianhe Stadium is located in Tianhe District and Yuexiu Mountain Stadium is located in Yuexiu District, both in the central part of the city; University Town Stadium is located in Panyu in the south and Huadu Stadium is located in Huadu in the north; and the competition hotel, the Oriental Hotel, is also located in Yuexiu District. These venues and hotels are located in low-risk areas that do not affect the travel and movement of people.
