As night falls at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, the night of May 30th will see China's soccer team welcome their first ever opponents, the Guam team. The Guam team has settled into the Suzhou Xianggu Li Hotel, and early in the morning of the 25th, before the national team's intense training, midfield core Wu Xi faced the camera and revealed the team's strategic plan to prepare for the Guam team.
Wu Xi revealed, "Starting today, the team will open special training against Guam. Facing my first international tournament in more than a year, I am deeply convinced that I must improve my concentration on the field."
Talking about the arrangement of the team's division matches and rest days, Wu Xi said, "A few days ago, the national team carried out a division match within the team, and then we rested for a day, and today we officially put into the preparation for the first match. The coaching team carefully edited the video analysis for the opponent's offensive and defensive strategies and distributed it to each player, and we used the rest time to study the opponent together."
Regarding his role, Wu Xi firmly said, "I will continue to serve as the core of the midfield and assume the heavy responsibility of connecting the top and bottom of the field, and I expect my efforts to bring the fruits of victory to the team."
Given that the Chinese Super League is being played in a closed Suzhou, Wu Xi appeared relaxed about the playing environment: "Everyone has long been adapted to the pace and atmosphere of the game here, the rooms are uniquely arranged, the training conditions are first-class, and each person's room is decorated with photographs and anime avatars, creating a warmth of home. In addition, the team's diet is also very rich, everything is very adaptable."
Facing the compact schedule of completing four group matches in 16 days, Wu Xi thought, "Although the schedule is intensive, it is not a big problem. Last year's Chinese Super League was at the same pace and we've gotten used to it, the key is how to recover efficiently so that we can get better into the game."
