On April 25th in Beijing, CCTV reporter Ai Tingting conducted an in-depth interview with women's soccer star Wang Frost. In the interview, Wang Frost recalled her personal training and life, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the support of her fans, and shared her deep friendship with her coach Jia Xiuquan.
With the Olympic preliminaries coming to an end, the Chinese women's soccer team has begun isolated training in their hotel in Suzhou and stepped into a period of self-adjustment. Talking about this period, Wang Frost confessed, "Breakfast at 8 a.m., lunch at 12 p.m., easy soccer training at 3 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.. We were relaxed both physically and mentally. Now every day is easy and happy, this is the first time since director Jia led the team that we are so easy, so happy and so relaxed."
Wang Frost also mentioned the endless stream of interviews and gifts from fans during this period of time, saying, "To be honest, when I received the interview invitation at the beginning, I did want to refuse. After the game, I kept answering the same questions over and over again, and now I really don't know what to say."
China's women's soccer team beat South Korea 4-3 on aggregate in the two-legged match, with netizens jokingly calling it "Korea 3-4 outside the city of Suzhou". Wang Frost said she hadn't checked the relevant Tang poem, but couldn't help but marvel at the talent of the netizens. She also said that she was touched by the wonderful videos edited by fans for her and thanked the fans who accompanied her all the way.
Regarding her thoughts about not wanting to play soccer, which she expressed after the Women's World Cup, Wang Frost recalled, "I did think about giving up, going back to classes at North Normal University, finishing graduate school, becoming a teacher or a youth coach, and playing soccer with the kids. But in the end, I persisted, not only because of my personal efforts and persistence, but also because of the support and encouragement of the national team and Jia's guidance."
As for whether to consider staying in the ocean in the future, Wang Frost said, "It's still the Olympics that's the main focus, I've already found a sense of belonging in the national team, so why would I want to go so far away to prove myself. On the stage of the national team, I will be able to prove myself."
Talking about the mentor-pupil relationship with Jia Xiuquan, Wang Frost said, "I have a deep bond with director Jia, he may be too harsh at times, but that's his way. This game, I think will break all the doubts between us." She also said that the coaching staff is also very difficult, for more than 130 days they gave up their families and put all their energy into the team.
In answering questions from netizens, Wang Frost revealed that she is an Aquarius, a person who is "free-spirited". Talking about her looks, she laughed and said, "You have to look at the temperament of the person, not the looks, but I don't look bad. My temperament is more sunny and healthy, because I am a soccer player, so sunny and healthy." Finally, Wang Frost said, "Now every day is very happy, and work together with this team, we all have common goals and beliefs, every day you can see your own progress, will not be bummed out, every day there is passion and motivation."
