Yokohama FC went down 0-2 to Urawa Ruby in the final round of the Group C group stage of the JLF Cup today and regretted going out of the competition.
Urawa Ruby broke the deadlock in only the third minute of the first half when Takayoshi Sekine received a precise pass from Yoshiho Koizumi. Immediately after, a furious shot by Yasuya Taimaki added to the lead in the 16th minute of the second half.
The match resumed in the 26th minute with Chira Miura coming on as a substitute. Although he tried to create chances by sprinting upfield and fighting for high balls, he unfortunately could not capitalize on the chances on goal, and the score remained 0-2 until the end of the match. A draw for Yokohama would have made history as the first time a team has broken out of the group stage of the Nippon Confederation Cup, but a tough loss made their exit look bleak.
