In the fifth round of the first stage, Wuhan Sanzhen and Gusu Dongwu started their match at the Hankou Culture and Sports Center in Wuhan. Neither side scored in the opening half. In the second half, Hu Mingfei scored in the 76th minute with a header from a corner kick. At the end of the game, in the 92nd minute, Wuhan Sanzhen's Edmilson scored a goal in the penalty area. In the end, Gusu Dongwu and Wuhan Sanzhen drew 1-1.
After the match, Guso Eastwood head coach Mr. White attended the press conference. He said, "Firstly it must be admitted that this game was the best we have played in our group so far, both teams were hungry for points but we both missed too many good chances. We were scored on late in the game and there was probably only one team that wasn't too happy at the end and that was us." When asked to rate his five opponents after five rounds, Gary White responded, "First of all, in terms of power budget, Wuhan Three Towns is undoubtedly the leading and top team, along with a Taiwanese player and three foreigners. Today our team showed that an all Chinese team can compete with them as well and I am proud of my players. Even though on paper the opponents were very strong, it was us who deserved the three points more tonight."
