In a heavy news from Guangzhou City FC, we witnessed the birth of a new star - Colombian wing speedster Caldona has officially embarked on his journey. The youngster has signed a three-year contract with the club and is honored to take over the No. 7 jersey from former Xavi.

Born on January 9, 1995 in Cali, Colombia's third-largest city, the 26-year-old Caldona stands just 170cm tall, but his right-footed skills are enough to allow him to shine on the wing.

He began his career with his hometown team, Deportivo Cali of the Colombian Primera División, and has had a long career in the Colombian professional league. He briefly stepped onto the Liga MX stage, as well as showing his mettle in Mexico's Primera División.

Since 2019, the 24-year-old Caldona has been making a name for himself in the South American top flight. In January of the same year, he moved from Barclays Liga side Ceará to Colombian Liga side Sporting Pasto, where he made 16 appearances in all competitions in just six months, contributing two goals and one assist. In the summer of 2019, Caldona moved to Mexican Liga MX side Leon, for whom he appeared in nine matches and dished out one assist. In July 2020, he returned to Colombia once again, joining Caldas XI.

Caldona is not only an excellent winger, but can also play in the forward position. His playing style fits in with the modern soccer style of wing forward, and is exactly the kind of player needed in Guangzhou City's tactical system. He combines the skills of a wingback and a forward, with excellent dribbling and organizing abilities. His wide range of movement on the field, coupled with his solid set-piece skills, enables him to open the door for his team at critical moments.
