In the late afternoon of April 1, the group draw for the first stage of the 2021 season of the China B League was revealed. A total of 24 teams were assigned to three different divisions, with the China U20 National Youth Football Team being assigned to Group B, where they will travel to Yancheng to start a fierce competition. The new season of the Chinese B League will be played in three divisions, Duyun, Yancheng and Luxi, and the competition will be officially launched on May 15th. The top two teams in the promotion group will be promoted directly to the Central League, while the third and fourth place finishers will play the 18th and 17th place finishers in the Central League in a lift playoff, with the winners earning a spot in the 2022 season of the Central League, while the losers will continue to compete in the Central League B. In the groups, the last place in each group (i.e. 8th place in the group) will be relegated to the Champions League, while the penultimate place (i.e. 7th place in the group) will play the 5th and 6th place in the Champions League in a promotion and relegation playoff, with the winners staying in the C.C.B. League and the losers being relegated to the Champions League, and the top four teams from the Champions League being promoted directly to the C.C.B. League.
As originally planned, the 2022 season of the C.B. League will have the same number of teams as the 2021 season, with a total of 24 teams competing.
