
On March 30th, the Group F matches of the Qatar World Cup Asian Round of 40 were passionately staged at the Chiba Tomita eSports Stadium at night, and the showdown between Japan and Mongolia officially started. At the beginning of the match, Takumi Minamino opened the scoring for Japan in the 12th minute with a smart left-footed shot from Ken Matsubara's right cross. Then, Isao Osako, Kamada Daichi, and Morita Hidemasa scored goals, and an ouchie from Mongolia could not stop Japan's offense. At the end of the half, Japan was leading 5-0.
In the second leg, Takuma Asano added another point for Japan, while Sho Inagaki, Isao Osako, Junya Ito and Henwu Furuhashi scored twice, with Isao Osako completing his hat-trick. In the end, Japan beat Mongolia by a huge margin of 14-0, equaling Iran's 14-0 win over Cambodia as the highest margin in Asia in the 2022 World Qualifiers, and just one goal short of the all-time high of 15-0, which came in 1967 when Japan played the Philippines.
In the pre-tournament group stage, Japan won all four matches, scoring 13 goals and not conceding a single goal, topping the table. In their first match against Mongolia, Japan won 6-0. Takumi Minamino's goal in the 12th minute was the key to Japan's lead. Then, Isao Osako scored again in the 22nd minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
In the 25th minute, Junya Ito crossed from the right side and scored with a pad shot in front of the goal by Daichi Kamada, making it 3-0! In the 32nd minute, Junya Ito showed his speed advantage again and Hidemasa Morita scored easily in front of the goal, making it 4-0! The Mongolian oopsie came again in the 38th minute, when Ken Matsubara's cross from the right side hit the head of the Mongolian No.5 player and bounced into the net.
After the halftime break, the Japanese team made personnel changes. In the 55th minute, Kamata Daiichi pushed the ball, and Osako Yuya scored easily inside the box, 6-0! Then, Inagaki Sho, Furuhashi Henwu, and Ito Junya scored, and the score continued to increase.
In the 72nd minute, Henwu Furuhashi's shot hit the crossbar, but Junya Ito made up for it in time to make it 8-0. In the 78th minute, Junya Ito sent a cross in from the right side of the field, and a mistake by the Mongolian goalkeeper allowed Henwu Furuhashi to score with an open header to make it 9-0. Takuma Asano and Henwu Furuhashi scored again in the final stages of the match to give Japan a 14-0 victory over Mongolia.
