Recently, soccer commentator Chen Yong took to his social media platforms to praise the bright performances of Shandong Taishan and Shanghai Shenhua in the AFC Champions League.

The Chinese Super League (CSL) duo took the lead in the first round of the new AFC East Asian Champions League (AFCEAC) season and delivered a satisfactory performance. Shandong Taishan defeated Central Coast Mariners 3-1, while Shanghai Shenhua beat Pohang Steelers 4-1.

Chen Yong pointed out in his comments, "Taishan team is like a tiger coming down from the mountain when it comes to the AFC Champions League, even if they are in the trough, they can still rely on the AFC Champions League to realize a rebound, and their rich experience in the AFC Champions League is one of their major strengths. In contrast, I respect Shenhua more. They failed to qualify for the AFC Champions League last year, and this year is their first time on the stage. As Coach Slutsky said, they didn't adapt at first, but they soon found their form. In fact, willpower and motivation are the most crucial factors."
