In regions where soccer development is lagging behind, the phenomenon of certain teams conceding goals is particularly serious. The Guizhou U18 Boys' Football Team, for example, scored only two goals in their three matches, but were unlucky to concede eight times, thus finishing at the bottom of Group B. Similarly, the Inner Mongolia U18 Men's soccer team was also at the bottom of Group E, having conceded 18 goals in three matches. Hainan U18 Boys were no exception, conceding a whopping twenty times in their four matches to finish last in Group G.
Surprisingly, Henan and Tianjin were the only two of the 16 teams in the Chinese Super League to fail to qualify. Tianjin finished at the bottom of Group D, while Henan finished third in Group B. The two teams did not play well in the first qualifying round of the Games. It is unfortunate that these two teams, which have always been the powerhouses of the Chinese Super League, were not able to play at the proper level in the qualifying rounds of the men's soccer tournament for the first three major games.
