As the bell tolled on August 11, the competitive stage of the Paris Olympics came to an end, and host France secured the fifth place in the medal table with an impressive 16 gold, 26 silver and 22 bronze medals. The three major highlights of the French Olympic delegation in this grand sports feast are as follows:
Men's Volleyball: defeated Poland with a perfect 3-0 record to win the championship crown.
Women's Volleyball: Despite giving it their all, they unfortunately finished out of the group stage in 11th place.
Men's soccer: lost 3-5 to Spain in the final, finishing second.
Women's soccer: lost 0-1 to Brazil in the quarterfinals, finishing sixth.
Men's Basketball: also finished second after an unfortunate 87-98 loss to the United States in the final.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Also missing out on the title after a narrow 66-67 loss to the United States in the final.
