Aug. 8: Former Shandong Taishan player Guo Tianyu, 25, has announced his move to Thai Premier League's Chiang Rai United, officials revealed.

Chiang Rai United has officially announced that it has reached an agreement with 25-year-old striker Guo Tianyu for the player's free transfer to the team.

Guo Tianyu was born on March 5, 1999, with a height of 192 cm, and is of Shandong nationality. He trained with the Shandong Taishan youth team from an early age and was gradually promoted to the professional ladder. He had short loan spells at Wuhan Zall and Vizela Portugal. At the international level, Guo Tianyu has represented China at U16 level and above, but has not made the adult national team.

In the new season 2024/25, Kok Tin Yu will wear the number 18 to help Chiang Rai United improve.

Last summer, Guo Tianyu was stripped of his Chinese Super League registration by Shandong Taishan on suspicion of gambling. According to the German Transfer Market, his contract with Shandong Taishan expired last July.

In May 2023, Taishan foreign aid player Sun Junho was arrested on suspicion of match-fixing, and it was rumored that Guo Tianyu was also involved, leading to the disqualification of Taishan's first-team squad from enrolling.

In May of this year, Guo Tianyu rumors since the "completion of sentence" news, is said to have "out".

In July this year, Guo Tianyu appeared in Qingdao West Coast soccer training base. Qingdao West Coast made it clear that it only provides a training ground, not a trial opportunity.

Guo Tianyu, 25, has been a member of the Luneng Taishan soccer academy since he was a youngster, and was loaned out to Portuguese second division side Oriente Dragons in 2014.In 2016, he was promoted to the first team of Shandong Luneng Taishan.

On January 27, 2022, Guo Tianyu was loaned to Vizela of the Portuguese Superliga until June 30 of the same year. He made his Portuguese Premier League debut in April 2022.

In April 2013, Guo Tianyu was first selected for the U16 national team, and in 2017 he joined the U20 national team.

In September 2019, Guo Tianyu was penalized by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) with a six-month disqualification and a six-month ban for violating the rules and regulations of the Chinese Olympic team's match against Vietnam.

In September 2020, Guo Tianyu made his debut with the Chinese national team.

Chiang Rai United finished eleventh in the Thai Premier League last season. The new season is about to kick off with the first round of matches scheduled for August 12 at 20:00hrs.
