On July 25, news came from Argentina's TyC Sports channel, focusing on the latest developments in the men's soccer National Olympic Team.
Despite IOC members pushing for the tournament to be renewed in the hope of completing the remaining fixtures, Argentina and Morocco have resolutely decided to refuse to return to the tournament with FIFA's permission.
After a 40-minute wait, the authorities gave instructions for both teams to warm up while the referee's room reviewed Argentina's equalizing goal via the VAR system. If VAR ruled the goal legal, the match would end in a 2-2 draw; otherwise, the match would be extended by several minutes.
Unfortunately, VAR eventually ruled the goal offside, and after the game resumed briefly, Argentina was unable to recover and ended up with a 1-2 loss.
Looking back at the Paris 2024 Olympic men's soccer group stage Group B first round matchup, it looked like the game was going down to the wire when Argentina equalized in the 106th minute of play. However, before the players could leave the field, the match was suspended for some reason. After a long two-hour wait, the game resumed and a VAR decision nullified Argentina's goal. With an empty stadium and silent spectators, the game was played for another three minutes, and Argentina eventually fell to Morocco by a score of 1-2.
