Suarez's farewell after Copa America
The final chapter of the America's Cup has quietly come to an end, and Suarez was surrounded by the word "retirement" in the spotlight of the press conference. He said frankly: "Today, the team effort is the focus. I'm not in the same situation as my country's needs, and it's clear that I want the focus tonight to be on the Uruguayan men's soccer team, not on me personally."
Talking about his experience with the ball, Suarez couldn't hide his sadness, "In the qualifiers, I left pieces of the net and took pictures with my family when I thought it was my last game. We should cherish every moment, every stage, like it will be frozen forever."
Suarez's words are really a preview of a future decision. In a previous interview, he mentioned a knee injury. The 37-year-old soccer veteran officially declared that after the Copa America, he will end his career and say goodbye to the national team.
Suarez's choice was regretted by Lionel Messi, who was eager to continue playing alongside him, however, fate was merciless. Suarez's life is much more than soccer. He has more choices. At this moment, Suarez may want to spend time with his family to make up for those years of missed companionship due to soccer. We wish Suarez all the best in his retirement.
