On March 15, Zhejiang's teenage hero Wang Yudong, holding the 2023 China Golden Boy Award (U17) trophy, shared his path of growth and his vision for the future in front of Football Weekly's cameras.
"Have you, the future star, ever considered embarking on a study abroad journey to sharpen yourself on a higher platform?" The reporter asked curiously.
"That goes without saying, I'm eager to sharpen my skills and expand my horizons in the top leagues. I was impressed by the fast pace of Europe's top five leagues. I remember that time when I challenged Kofu Kazebayashi, a second-tier league team from Japan, on the road, they were incredibly fast, which gave me a deep sense of the cruelty and exercise of the game. The National Games will be coming next year, and I hope to represent the Zhejiang team. If there is a chance, I would like to depart next year, and I believe it will help me grow by leaps and bounds." Wang Yudong's eyes flashed with determination.
"The Chinese Super League is rampant with foreigners, don't you feel pressurized as a striker?" Another reporter followed up.
"Scoring goals is my favorite. There is a lot of competition for every position in the Chinese Super League and I am ready for the challenge. The seniors in the first team have given me a lot of help to adapt to the rhythm of the league faster. At the same time, I will also strengthen my communication with foreign players and learn their skills. I am confident that I can stand firm in this land." Wang Yudong's tone is full of confidence.
"Your dazzling performance in the Asian tournament has made countless fans remember your name. From obscurity to widespread attention, do you feel the pressure?" The reporter asked with concern.
"It's an honor for the fans to know me and a recognition of my efforts. I don't see it as pressure, on the contrary, it would be a disappointment to the fans if I couldn't score goals. I will turn this attention into motivation and keep improving myself to not let the fans down." Wang Yudong's answer is full of determination.
"The current Chinese soccer environment is not good, do you have confidence in the future of Chinese soccer?" The reporter pursued the question.
"Chinese soccer is facing difficulties, but as a player, we should go forward and believe in ourselves and the future of Chinese soccer. We have to work hard for a better tomorrow, and I firmly believe that Chinese soccer can get out of the doldrums." Wang Yudong's tone is full of expectations for the future.
