Among the rumors, the figure of former senior center Zhang Xue (formerly known as Yang Zi) seems to be looming in the player lineup. The towering 1.95-meter giant may have bid farewell to the Guangzhou Shadow Leopards' camp and switched to Guangxi Hengchen's banner.
Born on August 6, 1988 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Zhang has had a colorful green journey. He played for Hangzhou Greentown (now Zhejiang), Shenyang Zhongze, Harbin Yiteng, Shenzhen Lehman, Sichuan FC, Chengdu Xingcheng (now Chengdu Rongcheng), Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic, Zibo Cuju and many other teams.
Back in 2010, at the age of 22, School Zhang made his Chinese Super League debut with Hangzhou Greentown. By 2023, he had already left his mark in the four tiers of Chinese soccer (Chinese Super League, Chinese League One, Chinese League Two and Chinese Championship).
In the 2023 National Champions League Finals, Zhang School, wearing No. 27, contributed three key goals for Guangzhou Shadow Panthers. His first ever goal for Guangzhou Shadow Panthers helped the team get off to a good start in the Champions League Finals with a 3-1 win against none other than Guangxi Hengchen.
Despite being in his late thirties, Zhang is still in excellent physical condition, with outstanding header ability, a significant role as a pivot in front of the field, and a strong impact power in the lower league. Originally, Guangzhou Shadow Leopards were expected to be promoted to the China B-League, and Zhang was expected to continue to play for the national team. However, given the presence of a high center forward like former international Xiao Zhi in the team, Zhang's departure seems to be a necessity.
In 2023, Guangxi Hengchen finished fourth in the annual Chinese Championship League and successfully promoted to the Chinese B League, becoming the third professional team after Guangxi Pingguo Ha Rang and Guangxi Lanhang. In the new season, they will continue to write a new chapter in the China B League.
On February 19th, Guangxi Hengchen Football Club released the "Announcement on the Departure of First Team Players and Coaches". This indicates that there will be a major adjustment in the new season of Guangxi Hengchen, including assistant coach Erkan Ainiwar, as well as 12 players such as Sheng Peng, Liu Hao, Zhang Tianxiang, Li Weixin, Muhameti Gupul, Yang Bing, Lai Yanglong, Wang Jiancong, Jiang Minwen, Yang Hoyu, Chen Long, Li Yiehe, etc. In such a background, it becomes quite possible for senior center forward Zhang School to join the team. In such a background, the joining of high center Zhang school in Guangxi Hengchen has also become quite possible.
