Dong Fangzhuo recalled his trip to Manchester United with great emotion: "When I first set foot in the Manchester United Museum, I found that the Chinese elements there were quite scarce and could almost be counted. Today, I have finally fulfilled a dream I had during my tenure at Manchester United."

Dating back to January 2004, the 19-year-old soccer star became an instant sensation when he joined Manchester United for a transfer fee of £3.5 million. After a brief loan spell at Antwerp, he shone as the top scorer in the Belgian second division. Unfortunately, injuries and other factors prevented Dong's career from living up to expectations and eventually came to an end in 2016.

At the national team level, Dong Fangzhuo played in the Olympics with the Chinese men's soccer team and scored the first goal in Olympic history for China against New Zealand, which was also the only goal in Chinese Olympic soccer.
