CITIC Group, the majority shareholder of China's Chinese Super League powerhouse Beijing Guoan, has sold its team Lavia to Czech tycoon Pavel Tikach for 640 million yuan, Czech media outlet Sport.cz has revealed. Dating back to 2018, CITIC Group had spent money to acquire a majority stake in Slavia Prague, a team that has since become affiliated with Guoan. With CITIC's support, Slavia Prague managed to tide over its financial difficulties, while CITIC opted out.
Following CITIC Group, Sino Group took over Beijing Guoan, but did not achieve a breakthrough in the era of golden dollar soccer. In recent years, real estate companies suffered a market winter, Zhonghe Group even mortgaged Guoan shares to ease the financial pressure, resulting in the Guoan club in debt, and even sanctioned by FIFA. Recently, Guoan foreign aid quality has been criticized. Croatian media hrsport reported that last season was loaned to Latvia Daburo refused to return to Guoan in the new season.
