Chengdu Rongcheng goalkeeper Jian Tao's growth path
Chengdu Rongcheng goalkeeper, the player who made his national soccer debut in the warm-up matches, and his youth team coach Xiang Xuchao shared his experience of training him in an interview with "Red Star News".
Xiang Xuchao, a former goalkeeper for Chengdu Sheffield United's reserve team, joined the coaching ranks after his retirement and was promoted to coach the U15 ladder team at the Derry Football Training Center in 2015, where he trained Jiantao.
first encounter
I have a strong bond with this young player. Before I coached him, I attended a goalkeeper coaching course in Chengdu. At that time, I invited some players to demonstrate, and it was then that I noticed him. I thought he was smart, had excellent physical condition and long legs. I told people around me that this kid would have a future and decided to train him well. At the end of the year, he reached out to me. At that time, I had four goalkeepers with me, of which Ran Weifeng was still playing for Chengdu Rongcheng and the other two were already in college.
Jian Tao's time in France
In fact, I was lucky enough to meet these incredibly talented, self-disciplined, and hard-working kids. I always knew what I wanted and where I should work and never gave up on my goals. My years in France were very rewarding. I saw how European pros demanded of themselves. During my time in France, we kept in communication. I had urged him to come back, but he wanted to stay in France and study.
Signing of occupational contracts
It was simply the best birthday present ever given to me! He scored three goals in the first half against Qingdao Hainiu in his first game in the Chinese Super League, and didn't collapse in the second half, thanks to those years. He became smoother and smoother, making almost no mistakes in the game. He settled into the starting goalkeeper position for Chengdu Rongcheng, was named Super Monthly Goalkeeper of the Month, and was selected for the national team.
National team selection
In fact, I learned of the National Football Congress requirement before the league even ended this year, but I never told him about it so that it wouldn't affect him.
Communication in training
(I told him) You should always remember your goal and not forget your original intention. He told me that he often communicates with Wang Dalei, who often gives him advice. He said that there is really a lot to learn from Wang Dalei, his big brother who has more than 400 games of experience in the Chinese Super League. I think this is a good thing.
Jian Tao's character
This young man was dominant on the field, but on the court he was like a child, smiling all day long. This delightful personality has endeared him to every coach who has taken him on, and his hard work and self-discipline have impressed every coach. In fact, he doesn't need much reminding and there is nothing to warn him, just that he is expected to learn more from his big brothers in the team and ask them for advice.
One man's regret turns into a youth training primer
This is actually my original intention when I chose to engage in youth training, that is, I hope that through my efforts, I can develop more excellent young players and let more disciples enter the professional field. If professional soccer is the top of the pyramid, then our youth training coaches are the base of the pyramid. Therefore, I also hope that more professional players can devote themselves to the youth training of Chinese soccer after their retirement, and pass on the valuable experience they have accumulated in professional soccer to the young players, so as to make the foundation of our soccer more solid. In this way, more excellent talents will emerge from Chinese soccer in the future.
