A new chapter in Henan soccer: Li Wei Feng becomes deputy general manager, Chen Ming steps down
Henan Football Club released heavy news on the 20th, announcing the hiring of Li Weifeng as the club's deputy general manager, who will be fully responsible for the first team as well as the training of the youth team. At the same time, Chen Ming will no longer serve as the club's vice president and captain of the first team.
Li Wei Feng, a former Premier League and K-League sensation who racked up 112 appearances and represented China at the World Cups in South Korea and Japan, is undoubtedly one of the leading players in domestic soccer. Since retiring, he has held management positions at Tianjin Tianhai and Guangzhou City, and briefly served as acting first team coach. Although there were ups and downs in both of his stints - Tianhai was disbanded after failing to pass the entrance exams, and Guangzhou City eventually said goodbye to soccer - his abilities were highly regarded by the industry.
After a quiet season, Li Wei Feng has returned to the Chinese Super League with his love for soccer. According to an announcement made by the Henan club, his role at the new owner is quite similar to his time in Tianjin and Guangzhou. Last season, the Henan club had operational difficulties, but the team eventually finished 10th in the Chinese Super League. The club has high hopes for Li Wei Feng's ability to lead the team through difficulties.
Among the many players who have participated in the World Cup in South Korea and Japan, Li Wei Feng is undoubtedly one of the focal points as the former captain of the national soccer team. His teammates Yu Genwei and Zhao Junzhe are also currently playing important roles in the Chinese Super League, while Shao Jiayi has become an assistant coach of the national soccer team.
