Mr. He's deep love affair with China's soccer game
Mr. He is a lifelong sports enthusiast, and soccer and basketball are especially popular with him.
At the time of the founding of new China, Mr. He took up the responsibility of Minister of Sports and incorporated the iron spirit of the army into the field of sports. He implemented militarized management and strict daily discipline. It was this mode of management that led to the rising performance of table tennis, badminton and other sports.
However, the performance of men's soccer has never seen any improvement. Mr. He attached great importance to this and invested a lot of energy in trying to improve the training level of men's soccer in order to break through the bottleneck.
Under the careful training of Mr. He, the Chinese men's football team made a qualitative leap forward: in 1958, it drew with the Olympic champion Soviet Union, and in 1959, it even beat the Hungarian national second team. The Chinese men's soccer team also won the championship in the friendly soccer match between China, Korea, Vietnam and Mongolia.
However, as the core players aged, the Chinese men's soccer team declined, and in 1964, despite having the home field advantage against visiting Pakistan, the performance was disappointing, losing 0-2.
Mr. He was furious at the result, and the fans had reached the limit of the men's soccer team's performance. In order to find out the reason for the failure, Mr. He personally went to inspect the national soccer team. After realizing that the players' fighting spirit is low, he decisively disbanded the team and sent the players to the army for harsh military training.
After the military life, the athletes got a comprehensive training and education. After the second National Games, the Chinese national soccer team, featuring young players, was assembled again, and at the end of 1966, the Chinese men's soccer team returned as runners-up at the first Asian Emerging Forces Games. #History#
