
In the second round of the 2022/23 AFC Champions League group stage, the Chinese Super League (CSL) trio of Shandong Taishan, Wuhan Sanzhen and Zhejiang failed to have the last laugh and suffered a total loss.
The Yokohama Mariners put on a great show at the home of Shandong Taishan, winning the three points by a slim 1-0 margin thanks to a quiet first half in front of the net. Shandong Taishan are currently third in the group stage with one win and one loss.
Wuhan Three Town were away to Pohang Ironmen and Aziz's goal earned the Chinese Super League side the opening goal. However, Pohang Ironmen quickly equalized and scored twice after Xie Pengfei was shown a red card to win 3-1. Wuhan Three Town finished third in the group with a draw and a loss, and will welcome Hanoi of Vietnam in the next round.
Zhejiang hosted Melbourne of the Australian Super League. Early in the match, Frank suffered a heavy blow from the opponent. Caputo's header brought Zhejiang back to the city, but Lennardo's goal couldn't save the game, and Zhejiang finally lost 1-2, suffering two consecutive defeats in the group stage.
