Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club suffered a tragedy during its preparations for the playoffs when a miniature car was crushed by two giant trucks, causing three members of the car to die on the spot, local media in Vietnam revealed.

The three who sadly passed away were the team's coach, team doctor, and top outside forward Paulo Madeira Oliveira.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai lost 0-1 to Nghia Anh Lan Giang in the ultimate match of the relegation group of the Vietnam League playoffs that just ended. After the match, many players and staff members were arranged by the club to be transported back to their homes as they had not booked their flights in advance.

However, at 3 p.m. on the day of the incident, the vehicle was traveling on a Vietnamese highway when it was unfortunately hit by a large truck coming from the front and then violently hit by another large truck from the rear, resulting in the death of the three people in the vehicle on the spot.

Among the victims were assistant coach Yang Mingning, outside forward Paulo Madeira Oliveira and team doctor Tao Li Chi. Among them, Oliveira not only scored six goals for the team, but also topped the team in goals scored, and died at the young age of 27.

Hwang Youngjarai's coach is Thailand's famous Sainamuang, who had handed over the coaching whip to Yang Mingning before taking charge of the team. Yang Minh Ninh, who has played for the team since 1970, retired in 2003 and transitioned into a youth coach, having been Park Hang-su's assistant. Last year, Park Hang-su led Vietnam to a 3-1 win over the national soccer team to open the World Qualifying Tournament for the Southeast Asian team.

This season, Hwanginjarai have not performed well in the league and are only involved in the relegation group. However, last season they managed to qualify for the AFC Champions League and earned their first ever win in Asia by defeating Sydney. It is worth mentioning that they drew against Jeonbuk Hyundai, earning a total of five points from six games, a result that even exceeded the combined AFC Champions League results of Shandong Taishan, Seaport and Guangzhou (Evergrande) last season.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai had cooperated with Arsenal in youth training, producing a number of outstanding talents for Vietnam. However, mismanagement of the parent company and frequent changes of investors have left the team in trouble. Despite this, Hoang Anh Gia Lai has persisted in youth training, but this season's results have not been good. This year, newly promoted Ma Hanoi Police ended up second in the league on goal difference by bringing in international players, naturalized players and foreign aid.
