It was the golden fall of August when Serie A legends Cannavaro and Materazzi met in the Far East country of South Korea for a certain event. At the event, the two celebrities had nothing but good things to say about Bayern's new signing this summer, Kim Min Ah.
Looking back, Coco Kim was a dark horse in the Serie A last season, helping Napoli to the top of the league. Materazzi said: "Coco Kim, the idol of Napoli fans."
And Cannavaro was even more complimentary: "In my eyes, Kim Min is an indispensable player for Napoli to win the title. His performances have been exceptional."
Cannavaro has been in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande since the 14/15 season and has been working in the Chinese Super League for many years. It was here that he met Kim Min Ah, who played for Beijing Guoan between 2019-2021.
Cannavaro recalled, "During my time in China, I crossed paths with Kim Min Ah. At that time, he had shown remarkable skills on the ball, but there were occasional mistakes. Today, he is more focused and his athleticism has taken a quantum leap."
Although Kim Min-ah was only at Napoli for one season, Bayern decisively activated the €50 million release clause in his contract this summer, and the two sides have extended their contract until 2028 to map out the future.
