As the 2023 Women's World Cup approaches, the new Chinese women's soccer team is in the spotlight with the aura of last year's Asian champions. We are eagerly waiting for them to make another success in the World Cup, however, a sudden news seems to pour a pot of cold water on this expectation.
The Chinese women's soccer team recently played a warm-up match against the world champion Brazilian women's soccer team in order to get used to the rhythm of the game in advance. The match was divided into three sections of 30 minutes each, the same time as the official match. However, in order to scout more players, the two sides did not limit the number of substitutions, and all players had the opportunity to take the field, except for the injured and sick. Although the Chinese women's soccer team was slightly inferior in terms of strength and bench depth, the gap was obvious compared to the world-class teams, and the team eventually lost 0-3.
In the World Cup draw, the Chinese team had a bad luck in signing against the European Champion England Women's Soccer Team, the European powerhouse Denmark Women's Soccer Team and the Haiti Women's Soccer Team which advanced through the play-offs. Although Haiti is slightly weaker, England and Denmark are two teams that undoubtedly outclassed the Chinese team. England has beaten Japan and South Korea 4-0 in warm-up matches, while Denmark also beat China 2-1 in last year's warm-up matches. It will certainly be a tough challenge for the Chinese women's soccer team to grab points from these two European powerhouses.
Meanwhile, China's U20 women's soccer team is preparing for the upcoming U20 Women's Soccer Asian Cup. They are eager to qualify for the U20 Women's World Youth Championship by finishing in the top three at the Asian Cup early next year.In early July, the U20 Women's soccer team assembled again and traveled to Sweden for overseas training. However, in a warm-up match against Sweden's U23 women's soccer team, the Chinese team suffered a 0-6 defeat, one of the most painful losses in recent years.
Despite the heavy losses suffered by the Chinese women's soccer team, fans remain steadfast in their support. Some fans said, "Even though we may be fading out of the first tier of the world, I still support the Chinese women's soccer team, go for it!" Other fans wrote, "We'll go crazy together when we win, and take the blame when we lose, we'll always support the women's soccer team!" Still other fans said, "Even if we lose, we are still much better than the men's soccer team, the men's soccer team doesn't even have this chance if they want to lose in the World Cup!"
According to the schedule, the Chinese women's soccer team will face the Danish women's soccer team in the first match of the World Cup, which is also a key battle to decide whether the Chinese women's soccer team can advance or not. Expect the women's soccer players to bring surprises to everyone again!
