As the Chinese Super League (CSL) summer transfer season kicks off, many clubs have launched a competition to attract new players, with the recruitment of foreign players being particularly crucial. Looking back at the first 15 rounds of matches, most of the teams' problems at the attacking end were exposed, especially in the key games, the ability to handle the ball needs to be improved. For the top teams, every victory is a must, and this cannot be achieved without the team's positive action on the offensive end. In contrast, the problems on the offensive side of the ball are more prominent than on the defensive side of the ball. Therefore, it is almost indispensable for every coach to have an efficient scorer. During the transfer window, many clubs are looking for players of their choice, and the old favorite Guoan is no exception.
The data shows that Guoan scored 28 goals in 15 rounds of matches, leading the Chinese Super League. However, in-depth analysis shows that Guoan contributed 11 goals in the two matches that they won by a large margin, accounting for 40% of the total number of goals scored. These two games were against relegated teams, so while Guoan's performance was excellent, it was not enough to fully reflect its offensive strength. The coaching team is well aware of this, so the team still needs a change in the offensive end, and the new coach, Suarez, has his own choices.
Among the many candidates, Abreu caught the attention of Guoan. The Angolan-born player from Portugal, who has played for several European clubs but is little known, moved to the Asian League in 2020. In the 2023 season, he made 16 appearances for Jolfecan, contributing six goals in 58 appearances for Shatpatten, where he scored 27 goals. Guoan selected Abreu mainly thanks to Suarez's experience working with him when he was at Club Moreira in 2019.
Under the tutelage of Suarez, Abreu has scored an impressive 14 goals in 36 games. This is despite mediocre stats at national team level, contributing just one goal in eight games for Angola. It is reported that Abreu joined Guoan as a free transfer, with no transfer fee paid by the club.
Abreu became the first African international in this summer transfer window, and with a height of 1 meter 84, he is expected to be a strong weapon in the attacking end of Guoan in the second half of the season. We expect him to make his debut in the 17th round of the Chinese Super League and meet the fans. As for his performance, the actual test on the field is still needed.
