Wuhan Sanzhen and Malcolm's teaming up is a great story in the soccer world. If not for Malcolm's outstanding performance, Wuhan Sanzhen's path to the Chinese Super League title would have been out of reach. Similarly, without Wuhan Sanzhen, Malcom's dream of winning the Golden Boot in the Chinese Super League would have been shattered.
However, on the eve of the 2023 season, Malcolm decided to leave Wuhan Three Town for Jeddah National in the Saudi League. At the time, Jeddah National was still struggling in the Saudi second tier, equivalent to our Central League. This choice was both amazing and left Wuhan Three Town without their top scorer.
Although the economic factor is one of the considerations, nowadays, this transfer seems to be a lose-lose situation. Wuhan Three Town's slim hopes of defending their Chinese Super League title this season are closely related to the shortcomings in the center forward position. And Malcolm's situation at Jeddah National has been equally difficult, with few opportunities to play in five months unless there are reports of injury or eligibility issues.
Even if Malcolm remains with Jeddah National next season, the chances of him getting a chance to play are slim to none as a stronger center forward is about to join the team.
Santiaouna reports that Jeddah National have reached an agreement to join former Liverpool winger Firmino on a three-year deal, with a medical taking place this week. Firmino will receive an annual salary of 25 million euros and bonuses.
Firmino, 31, played for Liverpool for eight years, during which time he helped the team win the Champions League and Premier League titles.
