Liu Chaoyang showed his talent at an early age and was selected for the Chinese national youth team.In 2014, he joined the Shandong Luneng Soccer School and went to Brazil for further studies.He returned to China in 2019 and was promoted to the first team of Shandong Taishan, where he made his debut in the Chinese Super League.
