A new chapter in the career of Bolivian soccer superstar Marcelo Moreno has been unveiled as he joins the national team for a friendly match in between international matches in full swing. According to the official news of Ecuador Valley Independiente, the 35-year-old Moreno has officially joined the team and signed a contract until the end of the year.
The 35-year-old striker (credited as the team's first striker), who has left his mark on Bolivian soccer history, joined Changchun Yatai (registered name: Morello) in February 2015 for a transfer fee of €2.5 million, and in the following two seasons, he scored nine and 13 goals, respectively, and contributed to Yatai's successful relegation campaigns.
In early 2017, with Changchun Yatai bringing in Ighalo of English Premier League's Watford, Moreno, whose contract had expired, chose to join Wuhan Zall, still in China's First Division. Under the guidance of Ferreira and Tang Yaodong, he won the Golden Boot of the 2017 season with 23 goals, making a huge impact on the Chinese First Division. However, when Li Tie took over as Wuhan Zall's coach, Moreno's situation took a sharp turn for the worse - with the help of his contacts in Japan, Li Tie signed Rafael Silva and Pedro Júnior as foreign aiders, but dismissed "his own" Moreno in the second half of the 2018 season. Sacked in the second half. In 2019, Moreno moved to Shijiazhuang Yongchang (formerly Cangzhou Lions) as a free agent and helped promote the team, but soon terminated his contract early for "family reasons". After leaving China, he played for Cruzeiro and Portnoy Hills, with his price dropping to €300,000 dollars. Given his special relationship with Gustavo Quinteros (they played together in the Bolivian national team), many media speculated that he would join Colo Colo. Back during his time at Portnoy Hills, Moreno showed great interest in joining Colo Colo: "If Portnoy Hills doesn't renew my contract, I'll open my arms and talk to them in depth. If Colo Colo and Quinteros are both interested in me, I will sit down and talk to them." However, in the end, Moreno turned down Colo Colo's offer and joined Independence Valley instead. He will once again represent the team in the Copa Libertadores in the new season, playing against powerhouses such as Corinthians, Argentinean Juniors, and Uruguay's Liverpool.
