As the national team's international journey draws to a close in March, the Chinese soccer world is about to step into the rhythm of the league. Overseas players are returning to their clubs to prepare for the new Chinese Super League season, and those who have moved on to new homes will be officially unveiled. Sun Guowen, who tried out for Shandong Taishan before being named to the national team roster, is expected to join Chinese Super League newcomers Wuhan Sanzhen as the transfer drama for striker Wei Shihao comes to an end.

Wei Shihao, once the pride of Guangzhou Evergrande, but since the 2021 season, Evergrande has been in deep financial difficulties, core players have left the team, leaving only him and other middle-generation players to hold on. Last season, Evergrande played with a full Chinese class, but was relegated with the second-lowest record in the league, which made Wei Shihao's road to staying in the team even more rugged.

Wei Shihao, born in 95, a native of Bengbu, Anhui Province, is 1.78 meters tall and has played as a striker and winger at Shandong Luneng Taishan Football School. He has traveled across the ocean to play in the Portuguese league, playing for teams such as Boavista, Ferrarians, and Lechon Ish, and became famous in the 2014 Asian Youth Championship, becoming one of the most outstanding strikers in China's 95 age group.

Returning from his studies, Wei Shihao has represented Shanghai SIPG, Beijing Guoan, and Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League, and was almost the only breakout star in Guangzhou's frontcourt last season. Since making his national team debut in December 2017, he has made 19 appearances, contributing two goals and four assists, and although he has played important roles under successive head coaches, his place in the starting lineup has yet to be solidified. With the accumulation of experience, Wei Shihao is becoming more mature, and the veterans are fading away, he will take on more important responsibilities in the national team. He started both friendly matches in March, and there is no doubt that new coach Yang Kovic's trust in Wei Shihao to join Wuhan Sanzhen will undoubtedly be a big boost to his career. May he shine in his new environment and help the team create good results in the Chinese Super League and AFC Champions League to enhance their competitiveness and serve their country.
