At the end of the 13th century, the inhabitants of Poznań built a fortified wall on the banks of the Warta River, and since then the city has witnessed the trampling of Swedish iron horsemen and the century-long rule of Prussia. Once the capital of the Kingdom of Poland, Poznań became a pivotal point in its history when the "Poznań Affair", a strike by Poznań workers in 1958, signaled Poland's gradual break with the Soviet Union.

Poznań Lech currently has 29 registered players worth a total of €30.48 million and an average age of 25.7 years, the third highest average age in the league this season.
