On March 17, ESPN broke the news that French soccer superstar Thierry Henry has shown strong interest in the U.S. national team coaching position. Michel Aulas, a member of the French soccer federation's committee, had proposed Henry to coach the French women's soccer team, however Henry's response appeared to be hesitant and seemed to be weighing other possibilities.

"I asked Henry directly and his attitude was not clear," revealed Michel Aulas, a member of the French Football Federation, in an interview with French media outlet Le Figaro. Obviously, Henry was pleasantly surprised by our invitation and our move is meant to show our recognition of his ability. However, I think he is still weighing up other opportunities."

Henry is reportedly extremely interested in filling the vacant head coaching position of the U.S. men's national team. The U.S. Soccer Federation's marquee position has been up in the air since Greg Berhalter's contract expired at the end of 2022. This is despite the fact that this week US Soccer said that Berhalter remains a candidate for the marquee position following an investigation into allegations of domestic violence against him.

In an interview with CBS, Henry said bluntly, "I'm familiar with the American players and I know the USLF very well. I aspire to be a coach at any level in the USLF, and that's certainly one of my career goals."
