On February 21st in China time, Cangzhou Lions Football Club announced that Zhao Junzhe will be the new head coach of the team. At the same time, the Chinese Super League has ushered in another new force on the coaching bench. In recent years, both national teams and clubs have become increasingly diversified in their choice of coaches. With the end of the Golden Dollar Era, Turkish coaches and Turkish tactical styles are beginning to make their mark in the Asian soccer world, but whether they can get real growth and training in the fierce arena needs to be tested by actual battles.
Looking back at last season, Turkish coaches occupied half of the 18 teams in the Chinese Super League. Shandong Taishan's Hao Wei, Shanghai Shenhua's Wu Jingui, Dalian's Xie Hui and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger's Yu Genwei performed well in these positions, not only achieving outstanding personal results, but also leading their respective teams to achieve good results. Especially Xie Hui and Wu Jingui, the former in the Chinese Super League under great pressure, while the latter led Shenhua, the "old and sick" division played a beautiful defensive counterattack, beat the city rival coach Lecco.
Changchun Yatai's Chen Yang and Wuhan Changjiang's Li Jinyu won the fans' approval despite ultimately not performing as well as they should have.
However, not all local coaches have been able to maintain stability, with Beijing Guoan's Xie Feng plagued by controversy over poor results and employment issues, and Guangzhou's Liu Zhiyu bringing the team into disarray, culminating in Zheng Zhi's appointment at the top of the pecking order. Zheng Zhi and Li Weifeng became the center of attention in the second half of last season, and the two young coaches were especially instrumental in team adjustments and tactical intensity. In the end, the team was able to survive relegation, while Guangzhou was unlucky to be relegated to the Chinese Super League.
With the addition of Zhao Junzhe, the lineup of young coaches in the Chinese Super League has once again expanded. Compared to the previous seasons, the league environment is expected to be optimized to a certain extent in the new season. However, after the wave of golden dollars receded, clubs generally started the mode of saving money, survival became the primary goal, and the pressure of performance was relatively reduced. Against this backdrop, Turkish coaches and tactical styles will get more exercise and opportunities, and while the gold may not be high, it is better than nothing. It is expected that the sharpening of these seasons will help the FA realize the goal of developing local coaches and tactical styles.
