On the eve of the Spring Festival, Nantong Zhiyun Football Club welcomed the addition of Wang Song, a 39-year-old veteran who will soon return to the Chinese Super League. In a recent interview, Wang Song had an in-depth exchange with reporter Xu Yi.
About the age composition of the Nantong Zhiyun coaching staff -
Excluding the goalkeeper coach, the foreign coaching staff seems to be generally younger than me. This is the first time in my career that a manager is younger than myself. Age is not the issue, and I don't mean to be proud of it, but I'm still older than the coaches.
The fact that the club has entrusted Patricio with the managerial position is a testament to my trust in his abilities. At all times, I will respect him and be willing to work with him to achieve good results for the team.
Regarding the rumored "promise of a starting job" to join Nantong-
Where does this come from? I've been playing soccer for many years and have never once asked for a starting position. That was true when I was young, and now, at 39, it's even more unlikely that the team will make those kinds of promises. What I can do is try to fight for a starting position. The coach will decide whether I can play or not, depending on my form.
Talking about the former owner, Shijiazhuang Kung Fu--
Shijiazhuang Kung Fu, a dark horse in China's first division, pursued excellence and eventually finished fourth. I had a great time in Shijiazhuang and had a good relationship with my teammates. I was not willing to leave. I would like to thank Nantong Zhiyun for giving me the valuable opportunity to play with the team in the Chinese Super League in the new season.
About China's soccer environment -
I have always believed that in soccer, professional matters should be left to professionals and everyone should abide by the rules of soccer. There are many successful experiences in foreign soccer that we should learn from. Instead of creating our own unorthodox soccer system, we should make Chinese soccer more professional.
