Some Wuhan Sanzhen fans speculated that Chen Xuyuan's absence could be related to the case of Li Tie, whose case could have an impact on Chen Xuyuan as the head coach of the national football team appointed by him.
Although Wuhan Sanzhen fans were understanding of Chen Xuyuan's absence, the media revealed the trajectory of his activities during this period. His high-profile appearance at the national team's preparatory training seems to have intentionally avoided the championship ceremony in Wuhan Sanzhen.
Chen Xuyuan chose to miss Wuhan Three Town's championship ceremony, perhaps because he was concerned about the club's previous comments of dissatisfaction with the CFA. Wuhan Three Town suffered unfair penalties in a key Chinese Super League title match, leading the club to speak out publicly about the existence of dark forces in the CFA.
Chen Xuyuan believes that the three Wuhan towns do not give face to the FA and therefore there is no need for special treatment. In response, Wuhan fans said that as FA chairman, Chen Xuyuan seemed too narrow-minded to accept the club's outspokenness in the face of victory.
