In AC Milan's tactical matrix, the partnership of Gattuso and Pirlo is a classic. As a midfield barrier, Pirlo was positioned behind the strikers, and his role was not only to dispatch the offense, but also to guard the defense side by side with Gattuso.

A magnificent picture of athleticism unfolded on February 21, 2004, in the Milan Derby, the 22nd round of the 2003-2004 Serie A season, when AC Milan cut city rivals Inter Milan down to size in a thrilling 3-2 comeback. In this summit match, Gattuso and Pirlo fought off Brazilian striker Adriano to lift the Serie A trophy for AC Milan.

In the 10th round of the same year's season, AC Red Wolves Roma drew 1-1 with AC Milan. Gattuso and Pirlo teamed up once again to hold off the front line of Totti, the Prince of Rome.

On February 27th, 2005, the 26th round of the Milan Derby took place again, with AC Milan winning 1-0 against Inter Milan on the road, and the defensive duo of Gattuso and Pirlo once again played a key role.

In the 2005-2006 season, Gattuso and Pirlo were always active on the green field. Even from the bench, they cheered Milan to victory.

Moving on to October 25, 2006, AC Milan defeated Chievo 1-0 away in the 8th round of the 2006-2007 Serie A season, with Gattuso and Pirlo's tacit understanding once again being the key to the game.

On August 31, 2007, AC Milan defeated Sevilla 3-1 in the European Super Cup final, where Gattuso and Pirlo played side by side to defend the red and black glory.

On December 4, 2007, in the 6th round of the group stage of the 2007-2008 Champions Cup, the AC Scots giants defeated KAI 1-0, with Gattuso and Pirlo once again working together to help their team to victory.

In the 2010-2011 season, Gattuso and Pirlo worked well together on the field and even showed amazing understanding when dealing with the referee. One can't help but wonder if their combination is a match made in heaven. Hahahaha!
