With the conclusion of the 33rd round of the Chinese Super League on the afternoon of December 27th, the mystery of relegation was finally revealed. In this round of fierce battle, Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei team unfortunately relegated to the ranks of the Central League, while Guangzhou City was lucky to avoid this fate before the round. What is remarkable is that Li Tie, the former head coach of Hebei and Wuhan Changjiang, used to work as an assistant coach in Guangzhou.
According to the 2022 CFA Super League, the three teams at the bottom of this season's ranking will be relegated. At the end of the 33 rounds of the tournament, Guangzhou City has 23 points, Wuhan Changjiang has 19 points, Guangzhou has 18 points, and Hebei has only 3 points.
Despite the fact that there is still the last round left in the league, Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei have been locked in the relegation zone for a long time and cannot be reversed. Guangzhou City, on the other hand, relied on their excellent play in the final round to successfully stay in the relegation zone.
The list of participants for the 2023 Chinese Super League season has been officially announced, with a total of 18 teams: Shandong Taishan, Wuhan Sanzhen, Zhejiang, Shanghai Port, Chengdu Rongcheng, Beijing Guoan, Henan Songshan Longmen, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, Meizhou Hakka, Dalian People, Shanghai Shenhua, Changchun Yatai, Cangzhou Lions, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Kunshan, Qingdao Hainiu, Nantong Zhiyun.
However, the 18 clubs mentioned above still need to pass the CFA's admission audit in order to participate in the 2023 Chinese Super League season. Theoretically, relegated teams Wuhan Changjiang, Guangzhou and Hebei still have a chance to return to the Chinese Super League, but considering the actual situation, these three teams are facing a huge challenge to survive. Even if some of the teams don't make it to the Chinese Super League, the chances of these three teams making up for the qualification are very slim.
