The Telegraph has revealed that the English soccer world is facing a change. If Southgate steps down, the English FA will be looking to select coaches in an unconventional way and may even look overseas. The change would be an unexpected gift for Pochettino and Tuchel, who are both open to taking charge of the Three Lions.

Southgate faces a decision on his future after World Cup falter. The FA originally expected him to extend his contract until the end of 2024, but now they are weighing up all the options and even considering bringing in a foreign master. Wiegmann, England's women's head coach with this summer's Euro triumph, has also emerged as a potential candidate, even though her contract doesn't expire until 2025.

Brynham's CEO and McDermott's technical director will fully assess the merits of the candidates. Mauricio Pochettino revealed his desire to replace Southgate when he was on hand in Qatar to watch the game: "I have a deep relationship with England and a love of England youth training. I feel at home here, the future is full of variables, I am open-minded."

When asked if Tuchel was interested in succeeding Pochettino, Southgate responded, "We seem to have created the impossible, which is exciting for others, and I completely understand that." However, despite Pochettino and Tuchel's work with a host of England players, outsiders may resist the idea of a German or Argentine coach taking charge of the national team.

The FA has invited foreign coaches like Eriksson and Capello, who have not coached in the English top flight before. Analysis suggests that Pochettino, Tuchel and Rodgers are the favorites, but the FA's financial considerations may be a limiting factor.

Southgate's annual salary is around £6m, lower than Rodgers' £8m at the Foxes. Leicester City could theoretically be compensated with £8m if England offered Rodgers, but Rodgers still has two years left on his contract.

The EFL, as a non-profit organization, is reluctant to pay high wages to destroy the salary structure. Pochettino and Tuchel, despite being idle, are equally aware of the EFL budget. Pochettino, whose team of assistant coaches earns around £2m a year, is reluctant to go it alone. Tuchel earns £8m a year at Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to accept an offer from England below that figure.

England's Potter, Eddie Howe may not leave Chelsea or Newcastle, leaving Southgate's assistant Holland as a potential candidate. As for Lampard and Steven Gerrard, there is no word on whether they will be considered by the FA as their next managers.
